Hands theFamilyHelpNetwork.ca is wrapping up Autism Awareness Month by inviting the Timmins community to an Open House on Saturday, October 29, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Agency’s Autism Centre located at 100 Wilson Avenue in Timmins.

The Open House features games, activities and prizes for kids, as well as tours of the site and refreshments.  Hands Autism experts will also be available to help people learn more about the services Hands provides.

Also on Saturday October 29, the Hands’ Timmins Autism Centre is hosting a free one-day Autism Community Clinic in Timmins on October 29, from 9 am to 7 pm. This in-person community clinic will feature training sessions and provide attendees with access to resources. Caregivers and families will also be able to engage in one-on-one meetings with a Family Service Coordinator and other experts.

As well, the day before, on Friday, October 28, Hands is hosting a special Speech and Language Screener Day in Timmins. This is a free event for all families regardless of diagnosis. Families can book an appointment to better understand their child’s level of speech, language and communication needs and gain strategies and next steps from a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. Families can book an appointment by connecting with our Family Service Team at 1-800-668-8555 ext. 1333 or [email protected].

“We are very excited to welcome the Timmins community to our new Autism Centre to see our facility and learn about the wonderful services we have to offer.  This space was created to serve the community of Timmins and surrounding area with a dedicated space designed to meet the needs of kids and families with an Autism diagnosis, a place where we can utilize our expertise to help families, and we hope that everyone will join us this Saturday for some fun,” said Paula Barnes, Manager of Autism Services at Hands.
