Position Summary
The Recreation Therapist (RT) supports the client’s well-being through the use and/or enhancement of leisure and free time engagements. The RT works in a team environment to assess, support, and monitor clients on the waitlist, engaging in outpatient therapy, intensive services, or in live-in treatment. The RT will support clients to improve and maintain their skills and functional leisure abilities in the areas of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning by conducting assessments, contributing to treatment plans, and delivering one-to-one and group recreation therapy sessions.

Permanent full-time (35 hours per week)

Hourly Rate/Salary
Minimum $31.87 to maximum $38.78 per hour
Salary commensurate with education and experience

Qualifications
- Three (3) year bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or bachelor’s degree with college certification/diploma in Recreation Therapy
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience
- Experience working with children and youth with complex needs
- Experience in program development, assessment, and process and outcome evaluation.
- Proficient software skills using the Microsoft Office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook)
- Aware of available resources and funding that may be beneficial to clients
- Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with a willingness to contribute and lead in the culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events for clients and their families/caregivers, colleagues, other community members and yourself
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with highly confidential information and situations
- Successful applicants will be required to provide:
- proof of eligibility to work in Canada
- a valid Ontario driver’s licence and use of a reliable motor vehicle; insurability on Agency vehicle insurance policy
- clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
- Preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates
