Support for Families on Hands’ Counselling Service Waiting List

Hands’ Child and Youth Mental Health Service is reaching out to everyone on its current waiting list.  Appreciating that the need for services is growing, we are working to increase our capacity to be more responsive.

To start, we are reaching out to all on our current waitlist to offer supports, which may include: mental health and behavioural intervention groups, online counselling or face-to-face assessment and intervention.

If you are currently on our waitlist and received a telephone message or letter from Hands, or if you believe you should have received a message, please call us at 1.800.668.8555 to book your session over the next month. We are offering special, extended hours of service, listed below, to ensure that we are able to connect with all children, youth and families who have been waiting for services.

If we do not hear from you to schedule a session by January 8, 2019, your file will be closed; however, if you are in need of services in the future, Walk-In Counselling Clinics will be offered weekly at the Hands locations and times listed below, as well as our Sundridge location, starting in January 2019. The expansion of our Walk-In Clinics will help to ensure that our services are easily accessible to children, youth and families when they need them.  Walk-In schedules will be posted on our website in the near future.

Available Appointments – Dates and Locations

Time: Special extended hours have been created for children, youth and families currently on our waitlist. For each of the listed dates/locations, our offices will offer sessions between 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the last appointment of the day at 5:30 pm.  You may call Hands any time, and up until 10:00 am the morning of each day to book your session. Sessions are available on a first come, first served basis.
